Ribosomal Protein L11 (RPL11) is a protein involved in protein synthesis and ribosome function. It is located in the cytoplasm and participates in critical cellular pathways.
RPL11 contains an RNA-binding domain and contacts 5S rRNA in the ribosome.
RPL11 is a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit. Like RPL5, it plays a key role in the nucleolar surveillance pathway, regulating MDM2 and p53 in response to ribosomal stress.
Mutations cause Diamond-Blackfan anemia. Ribosomal stress can trigger neuronal apoptosis.
No current therapeutic targeting.
The study of Ribosomal Protein L11 has evolved significantly over the past decades. Research in this area has revealed important insights into the underlying mechanisms of neurodegeneration and continues to drive therapeutic development.
Historical context and key discoveries in this field have shaped our current understanding and will continue to guide future research directions.
